4 issues in development with high priority
Calimesa Golden Triangle boundary changes (LAFCO 2026-06-5 and 2026-07-5)
Calimesa wants to annex about 313 acres in Cherry Valley, but Beaumont and its water district say the land south of Cherry Valley Boulevard should go to Beaumont instead. Both sides showed up early to make their case before the items return next spring.
First-Time Homebuyer and Farmworker Down-Payment Assistance
The county locked in $4.96 million in state grants for down payment loans of up to $200,000 for very-low-income buyers, with a new program specifically for farmworkers. Loans recycle when homes sell or refinance.
6th Cycle Housing Element implementation
The county's annual housing progress report drew criticism that it's unclear what has actually been completed; planning staff promised a new public website tracking housing sites and programs within weeks.
Meadowbrook Marketplace commercial center
A new grocery-anchored shopping center is coming to Highway 74 in Meadowbrook, an area residents say is severely underserved — the nearest similar shopping is miles away toward Lake Elsinore or Perris. The project also brings jobs, a 24-hour fueling station, and pairs with a separate multifamily housing project across the street.
