3 issues in roads
2700 Cliff Drive driveway access
Residents near 601 Dover asked for an all-way stop at Cliff Drive and King's Place, but the city traffic engineer said it fails every state warrant test — volumes, collisions, and sight lines all check out. Commissioners flagged speeding as the real issue; the city is installing driver feedback signs and will re-examine the intersection once 601 Dover is occupied.
OCTA Transportation Center Relocation
A non-binding term sheet has the city paying to relocate the transit center by end of 2031 so the current site could be freed up. Residents warned about fire response times in East Bluff and bus rider impacts, and questioned whether OCTA or Newport Beach taxpayers really pay.
Weekend parking near Ridge Park Road and Coastal Peak Park
Trailhead and park parking along Ridge Park Road fills up on weekends as hikers and mountain bikers seek free parking near the Ziani community. Staff found about five additional spaces could be created by removing one no-parking sign and will observe weekend conditions before deciding.
