Residents objected to using Starlink for EOC backup communications, citing Elon Musk's conduct and data privacy. The council accepted the grant but directed staff to find a non-Starlink backup option.
ICE enforcement operation and hit-and-run incident
An ICE operation earlier that day ended with a federal vehicle striking a resident who was recording it. Roughly a dozen speakers demanded investigation, police presence at future ICE operations, and accountability.
