Luv Car Wash location relative to one-asterisk zone
The commission was scheduled to make a determination on whether the Luv Car Wash sits within the airport's one-asterisk zone, a land-use compatibility matter tied to airport safety zones.
Safety Element Update
The city is updating the Safety Element of its 2040 General Plan, which covers fire, flood, earthquake, drought, and evacuation risk. A draft is due March 2027 with adoption targeted for July 2027 alongside the Housing Element. The state largely dictates the required data and framework, which commissioners found frustrating.
Downtown zoning reform and Perkins Street corridor rezone
The council began unwinding the 2012 downtown form-based code for the Perkins Street corridor after staff found it produced just one new building in 14 years. Parcels return to community commercial zoning, which now allows drive-throughs and housing by right, and a new recreation district covers Great Redwood Trail parcels. Final adoption of the ordinance comes later.
