4 issues in environment with high priority
Drinking Water Quality
St. Helena residents say their tap water is making them sick, and the city now faces a serious public-health question it will likely have to answer. The allegation doesn’t prove contamination by itself, but it puts water testing, treatment, and clear communication with residents squarely on the agenda.
Water Quality Advisory
St. Helena officials are warning residents not to drink tap water that looks discolored and to report any off-color water. The advisory is a public-health precaution while the city investigates, and residents may need bottled water in the meantime.
Water Infrastructure Failures
St. Helena’s water system is having problems, and it’s the main topic at tomorrow’s July 9 city meeting. If you’ve dealt with water issues, this is your cue to pay attention—officials are likely to discuss fixes and next steps.
Water Quality Oversight
A grand jury just publicly slammed St. Helena’s leadership over poor water quality, so city officials are now under real pressure to fix it. The report puts the issue squarely in the public eye and makes it harder for the city to avoid action.
