Special Agenda - May 7, 2026
A new state law requires San Diego to allow denser housing near qualifying transit stops starting July 1. The council's ordinance delays that in low-income neighborhoods, high fire-risk zones, historic districts, and sea-level-rise areas, and exempts places more than a mile's walk from transit. Supporters say it allows smarter planning; critics say it delays badly needed housing.
