5 issues with low priority
Downtown public restrooms
Eric Peterson again pressed for public restrooms in Old Town, and Councilmember D'Arrigo agreed to make it a priority — attendance at First Friday events may be suffering for lack of facilities.
Council compensation transparency
A commenter challenged the council to publish full compensation details, saying the city manager promised answers about the reported $95,000 council compensation package but didn't deliver.
Driveway parking enforcement and red curb maintenance
Councilmember Sandoval asked the city to stop penalizing residents for long-standing third driveway parking pads and to repaint red curbs on Northridge Drive.
Christmas Tree Sales Season Extension
A last-minute request through the city manager's office would extend Christmas tree lot season from Thanksgiving Day to November 1. Commissioners balked at the early date and directed staff to align with Monterey County rules instead.
ITC renaming to Salinas City Heritage Park
The historic buildings around the train station will now carry the Salinas City Heritage Park name, opening doors to preservation grants and heritage tourism.
