4 issues in taxes budget
Oakleaf Estates CFD annexation
The 17-lot Oakleaf Estates infill project was annexed into CFD No. 4, so homeowners pay a special tax (up to $113.94 per unit, rising up to 4% annually) for landscaping, parks, and maintenance — with no hit to the general fund.
FY2026-27 Nonprofit Grant Awards
The fund that grants roughly $280,000 a year to local nonprofits will now cap any single grant at up to 30% of cycle funds, and the council's own discretionary fund grows from $15,000 to $25,000 — meaning more money for councilmember-chosen causes.
Villages West Community Facilities District formation
A new special-tax district will fund roads, water, drainage, and parks for a 192-unit housing development in the Sierra Vista plan — paid for by future homeowners in the district, not the general fund.
November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election and Measure A
A city employee urged a no vote on Measure A, which would raise council pay roughly 325% (about $23,000 more per member per year). Mayor Bernasconi later countered that council members are paid $600 a month and that serving is a financial loss, noting the council cannot raise its own pay as a charter city.
