Impulse Space cryogenic storage tanks height variance
Description
Impulse Space seeks a variance to install four (initially three) 38-foot cryogenic storage tanks for liquid nitrogen and argon at its expanded manufacturing facility, 8 feet above the 30-foot IC-1 height limit. The commission continued the hearing to September 17 on a 4-2 vote.
Impact summary
Residents raised concerns about leak and blast risks, suffocation hazard from gas clouds, truck delivery noise and hours, industrial lighting, and freeway evacuation gridlock; supporters noted inert, non-flammable contents and similar tanks already in use nearby.
