2027 Community Needs Assessment Plan for Children and Youth
The city is finalizing a plan to assess what Pomona's kids and families need, using surveys of youth, parents, and community organizations plus an equity analysis. What the board approves will shape how the Department of Children and Youth directs programs and resources.
Industrial project time extensions
Two already-approved industrial projects — a distribution building on S. Reservoir Street and two industrial buildings on E. Second Street — got extra time before their permits would expire. It keeps the projects alive but doesn't guarantee construction.
Proposed Rental Registry for Rental Properties
A rental registry would require landlords to register units, giving the city data on rents, conditions and violations. Staff recommended it, but the council split 3-4 against it, with skeptics citing cost, unproven benefits and only nine months of program data.
Permanent Supportive Housing Funding
The city is buying $2.2 million in prefabricated modular units to house homeless individuals and families with Pomona ties on city-owned land next to the family stabilization hub. Neighbors worry about security, loitering, and the poor condition of the alleys serving the site; a public design review hearing with 10-day notice is still to come.
