City AI use policy
Council Member Wong asked for a report on the city's policy for using AI tools. The city manager confirmed one exists for internal staff use and promised a fuller presentation at a future meeting.
November 2026 ballot measure voter education
Staff will run impartial, factual public education on the two city measures on the November ballot — no advocacy, as state law requires.
City Workforce Vacancies
The city is down to 33 vacant full-time positions out of 336 (9.8%), a big improvement from post-pandemic levels. Police officer openings are notably low compared to neighboring cities.
City Banking and Audit Contracts
The city is switching its banking to J.P. Morgan Chase for better rates and incentives, and extended its auditor The Pun Group — but shortened the extension to two years plus one so a fresh auditor reviews the books sooner.
New city logo and branding
After 60 years, Monterey Park has a new simplified logo, official colors (blues and greens with a red nod to the city's Asian heritage), and a style guide. The old 1966 seal stays for ceremonial use.
