Surf City ADA Improvement Grant Program
A proposed $15,000 program would give 15 local brick-and-mortar businesses digital marketing training, one-on-one advising, and a $1,000 grant to launch ad campaigns, using existing budget dollars. Council members called it a high-return investment in the local economy.
Downtown Business Improvement District assessment renewal
Roughly 255 downtown businesses pay assessments from $80 to $1,404 to fund ambassadors, cleaning, holiday beautification and marketing. The FY 2026-27 renewal passed with zero protests.
21 & 22 Main Street Pier Lease (Surf City Partners)
The city attorney reminded the public that the council previously voted unanimously to sue Surf City Partners LLC to recover unpaid rent owed to the city.
Pier Restaurant Completion Bond and Lease Compliance
The council fought over whether to accept the $1.3 million completion bond for the pier restaurant at 21-22 Main Street, with some members saying the tenant is already in default after missing the lease's construction timetable and receiving 15 months of rent abatement. The bond passed 4-3, unlocking permits and a targeted end-of-summer 2026 opening.
