The council renewed $500,000 in HOME funds for Abode Services' Project Independence, which provides rental assistance to young people aging out of foster care.
City Commission Appointments

Hayward is getting 72 new three-story townhouse-style condos on Mission Boulevard, including eight affordable homes — more than the city's minimum requirement. The project replaces a long-vacant site and preserves 1.5 acres of hillside as open space.
