Museum collection additions and removals
A new "Civic Celebrations" exhibit is nearly done, the Research Room is inventorying its map collection with the Surveyor's Office, and the museum is prepping fair activities including possible gold panning demonstrations and the Chinatown exhibit moving to the Fountain & Tallman Museum.
District V commissioner seat turnover in 2027
Chair Leona Allen is stepping down when her term ends January 1, 2027, taking a volunteer role with the state wildlife department. Supervisor Laine will appoint her replacement — a chance for local residents to seek the seat.
Recorder-Clerk fee increases
Recording fees are going up January 1, 2027, including a flat $7 charge for document copies. The office is self-funded and says efficiencies let it lower its per-document rate since 2019.
Green Valley Mortuary mausoleum expansion
Green Valley Mortuary & Cemetery wants to add five mausoleums to its existing cemetery campus off Alexandrite Drive. The structures would push into the standard side setback, though a 2015 approval already gave the mortuary flexibility in the R1A zone. The design committee found no aesthetic objections, and the project now moves through the county's broader review process.
Volunteer recognition criteria
The commission is figuring out how it will pick nominated volunteers to receive recognition. No criteria have been settled yet, so the process remains open.

Potential bear trap tampering ordinance
Commissioner Weddle asked to add a discussion of a possible bear trap tampering ordinance to the October agenda — an early look at a rule that could affect how people interact with bears locally.
Same-day fishing derby scheduling proposal
The commission is floating a rule that would bar fishing derbies from being held on the same day at different locations around the county. Organizers and anglers could see derby dates reshuffled if the idea moves forward, but nothing was adopted this meeting.
Low-Income Sector seat vacancy
The council still has an open seat in its Low-Income Sector. A press release is going out to try to recruit someone to fill it.
2027 Commission leadership transition

District 5 Veterans Affairs Commission leadership transition
Commissioner Gary Norton is stepping down as the District 5 primary commissioner and will move to the alternate seat, with Thomas Millham becoming primary once the Board of Supervisors signs off.
Museum programs and community history events
Museum programs are busy: railroad live music and Whodunit events, a research room with 2,000 maps inventoried, growing tours, a Save the Graves event, stagecoach runs, and an Eagle Scout veterans display. Plenty of ways for locals to engage with county history.
Meder Road four-lot residential subdivision
A 29.39-acre Shingle Springs parcel will be split into four residential lots of roughly 5 to 13.6 acres, allowing future homes, barns and accessory structures. Mitigation measures will be recorded on each parcel, with septic, EID water annexation and fire-safe requirements attached.

The committee is preparing an update for the Board of Supervisors on its economic development work, and members suggested items to add before it's finalized.
Research room needs a scanning computer
The research room is handling lots of walk-ins and email requests and finished its map inventory, but still lacks a computer for scanning work. Staff and volunteers are asking when one will arrive.
Native Lane four-parcel subdivision
Deubel Enterprises wants to split a nearly 40-acre parcel south of Cameron Park into four lots of roughly 5 to 15 acres. The hearing was postponed off calendar, so neighbors will have to wait for a future decision.
