5 issues in general with medium priority
Cannabis Dispensary Opening
Belmont has opened its first-ever cannabis dispensary after city approvals. It gives residents a new legal retail option and gives the city a new source of tax revenue.
LED street light program
Belmont is swapping in LED streetlights, so neighborhoods can expect brighter, more efficient lighting soon. The city says the upgrade is coming, but the source doesn’t detail costs, timeline, or which streets are first.
Sea Level Rise
Belmont Shore residents are being warned that rising sea levels could eventually make parts of the neighborhood unlivable. That means coastal property and infrastructure planning could see major changes.
Facility Closure
Belmont City Hall and the Senior Center are closing for a few days, so residents should plan around it. If you need a permit or senior services, check ahead and expect delays.
City Staff Appointment
Belmont has a new Parks & Rec director, and that means the department’s priorities for parks, programs, and rec facilities could shift. If you use local green space or rec programs, it’s worth watching what changes next.
