4 issues in roads
Electra Road and Tiger Creek Road Maintenance with PG&E
PG&E just rebuilt failing Electra Road and will keep maintaining it, while the county takes over Tiger Creek. Supervisors were glad to shift that burden but flagged that PG&E can close the road during storms or fire danger — a concern for upcountry recreation.
Upper Ridge Road safety petition
Residents delivered a 420-signature petition asking for up to four stop signs, school-zone speed signs near Mike Clark field, better truck-route signage, and CHP enforcement on Upper Ridge Road between Highway 88 and Climax, citing skyrocketing collisions and reckless driving. Longtime residents described near-misses at the blind Bowman Lane intersection and fears of pulling out of their own driveways.
SB 1 road funding for 2026-27
The county locked in about $2.7 million in state road money for paving, culverts, striping, and equipment including a new grader — good news for anyone who drives county roads, especially after winter storms.
Bright Feather Road neighbor dispute
A road-naming fight exposed a process gap: affected owners say they were never notified when the road was named in 2025. The board kept the name anyway — three of four owners support it, and public safety and mail delivery favor a named road — but the surveyor is now proactively notifying owners in future namings.
